Finding a new stylist is never easy. If you’ve recently moved or your preferred stylist is no longer available. it can be stressful and time-consuming to find a good alternative. How do you find a new hairdresser? How do you know if you can trust them with your hair? What if they let me down?
We’ve compiled a list of our top tips to help you get started – and remember YellowTom is always here to help you no matter what you’re looking for.
1. HOW FAR CAN YOU TRAVEL?
There are a wide range of different hairdressers available throughout the country. If you’re simply after a quick trim every few weeks then a local salon should be able to give you everything you need. For something a bit more special you might need to travel a bit further afield. YellowTom can help you in your search – you’ll find the closest hairdresser near you easily or expand your search to include towns across the country.
2. ASK FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
We’ve found one of the best ways to finding a stylist you can trust is through recommendations. Ask some friends or family members who always have great hair – they must know someone who they trust. This works particularly well when their hairstyle is similar to your own.
3. LOOK AT REVIEWS ONLINE
There are plenty of sites online that provide a good overview for almost any hairdresser in the country. Google Maps is a great way of looking through local hairdressers which includes their own reviewing system and a ton of other useful information including location, directions, and the hairdresser’s website (if they have one!)
Put some time into looking through some reviews and you’ll get a quick feel for which salons deserve your time and money!
4. CHECK OUT WHAT SERVICES THE HAIRDRESSER OFFERS
It’s always good to see what a hairdresser can and can’t do before digging any further. Ideally, any hairdresser should have a full list of services available from their site or alternatively on-site. Make sure they can do everything you’re looking for.
Don’t feel awkward phoning a hairdresser to discuss what you want – most salons are more than happy to discuss what you’re looking for before booking an appointment. Make sure you’re comfortable and happy before agreeing to book a haircut.
5. VISIT THE HAIRDRESSERS
Before committing there isn’t any harm in checking out the salon. There are a few not so obvious things to look out for when checking out your local hairdressers. We recommend looking for cleanliness, products used and the quality of other people’s hair and hairstyles.
Once you’re happy with your choice, take the plunge and go for it!
